The markets are only the beginning of our botanizing fun! After the markets we spend hours at the herbarium pressing our plants and putting the bulk samples in the plant drier. We ran out of "press guts" and had to cut up cardboard...we also had to build another plant drier to accommodate all of our bulk samples.

Herbarium Fun:
L: Plant presses
B: "Eating" Noni

Using a hand lens to look closer at the characteristics of this Asteraceae; pressing plants from the market. :)

About 1/4 of our bulk samples lined up outside the herbarium.

While botanizing is a lot of fun for botanists...to the students it's another story... :)

I would be interested to better understand the phylogeny of whatever is growing in that young man's shoes.
How cool!! I am sure you will inspire future botanists. It is nice to get a taste of what you do. It is sooo much more exciting than studying for the bar.
